Homework
Read 30 minutes Math On Monday we will be moving on to our next math unit which involves area, perimeter and volume. This is not a long unit and the students should start to see the connection between multiplication with an array to area (l x w= A). In this unit students will have to demonstrate that they can find the perimeter of shapes and use use the formulas, when calculating A and P for rectangles and squares. Friday's evaluation will be handed back on Monday and will need to be signed and returned. Literacy/Science/Social Studies The students are starting a new project which will combine Literacy, Science and S.S. They are researching one energy source (examples: nuclear, hydro, wind, coal, fossil fuels, etc.) writing a report on it and then looking into how our government is using this form of energy. We will also, as a class, determine if any further action is needed and contact our government about policies and practices that we might disagree with. It's going to be a busy month!

Read 30 minutes Math: Study for math assessment on Friday (multiplication and division). Homework
Read 30 minutes Math: Finish/make corrections to today's math (short division) Math: Study for Evaluation on Friday Math Evaluation On Friday I will be assessing the student's understanding of multiplication and division. The students will be asked to show their knowledge by answering some standard algorithm questions (multiplication and division) and their thinking, application and communication by completing word problems. When answering the word problems they will be expected to complete the math (showing all of their work), have a final clear answer and prove their thinking/answer by using a different strategy to show that they are in fact correct. Literacy I'm sure that you have noticed that we are not currently doing our Book Clubs. The reason for this, is that we are doing some new year literacy assessments to see how much we have progressed since September. The students are completing a reading assessment (DRA), writing assessment (OWA) and spelling assessments. Already, I am seeing great progress from many. Homework
