Read 30 minutes Apollo: Complete Final Project - Choice Activity. Due: Next Friday, June 1 Poseidon: Using Google Form, create a quiz for your classmates to complete. It must have 10 questions (multiple choice or True and False). Due: Friday June 1 Literacy/Media: Ask a family member whether they have been subjected to a hurtful or harmful stereotype before. What happened? How did it make them feel? Write one paragraph (using Google Classroom or a piece of paper). Spelling, grammar and punctuation matter. Due: Monday Math - Probability Our newest math unit is a short one; it is probability. Students need to make predictions about the outcome of a situation, consider all possible outcomes and determine probability (representing it in the form of a fraction). I have posted many probability games on the Weebly to help students. Please go on and play the games to practise this important topic. Cultural Symbols and Stereotypes In Literacy/Media we are learning about stereotypes in the media. We had great discussions about the image/video below. Homework Literacy/Media: Look online and find a stereotypical sports mascot/logo. Print off a picture or copy and paste it onto the Google Classroom assignment (I will print it for you). Be prepared to speak about how or why it can be hurtful or harmful to others. Stereotypes can include, race, gender, culture, age, etc. Math: Sign and return today's math test. Iris: Read up to chpater 10 and complete questions. Due: Thursday Apollo: Read up top chpater 14 and complete questions. Also, find one more example of irony in the book. Due: Friday Social Studies: Start to bring in items for your model assignment Gym Class - Softball Thank you to those students who brought in extra baseball gloves for their friends today. We had a great time practicing throwing and catching. On June 13 our class will be holding a student and parent softball game. Parents, please consider coming out and playing a game with us. Due: Thursday Spring Clean-up With warmer weather arriving, items accumulated over the Winter from our Lost and Found are now on display in our west, downstairs hallway. We have asked classes to visit this collection of clothing and sundries, and we will make additional announcements encouraging students to claim any items belonging to them. If you know that your child is missing any clothing, please encourage them to revisit the lost and found more carefully, as well. We also welcome parents and guardians who wish to go through the Lost and Found, but would respectfully ask that they do so after school, at 3:30 p.m. We will keep trying to ensure that items are returned to their owners. We will maintain this display of clothing until through Friday, May 25th. Long-standing unclaimed items will be packaged and donated to charity. We thank you for your support. Due: Thursday Math Test - Study for math test on Monday (converting fractions to decimals, ordering and comparing decimals, rounding decimals (to the nearest tenth), adding and subtracting decimals, and multiplying by (10, 100, 1000, 10000) and dividing decimals (by 10 and 100). Yard Clean-up We will be doing yard clean-up tomorrow. To help reduce the use of plastic gloves used, please bring in your own gardening gloves for the clean-up. They can be washed and won't end up in the landfill. Stereotypes - Media/Literacy Today we watched two videos and discussed any stereotypes that might exist in them.
