Dynamics Test Oct. 18 Mathletes On November 2nd our class will be participating in a math event called Mathletes. All students in grades 2-6 will be participating. The cost of the event is $9.60 and can be payed using School Cash Online. Please make your payment as soon as possible prior to the day of the event. Thank you. Yom Kippur For those families who will away for Yom Kippur, if you have not already done so, please call the office (or email me) and let them know that your son/daughter will not be here tomorrow. Due Tuesday Cookie Sales Cookie will be sold at recess by the Grade 8 students starting on Thursday. Cookies cost 1 for $3 or two for $5. Games Page I have created a Games page to the Weebly. It can be accessed by going to Games link at the top of the page. As new units start, I will add games so that students can reinforce and practice concepts covered in class. Dress up in your Blue Jays gear (or in blue clothing) to show your pride in Canada's team! School is only as fun as you make it. Go crazy, have fun (maybe even blue hair?), GO BLUE JAYS! Scholastic Orders Due Tomorrow. Thank you for your support! Literacy: We are starting our new unit, Summarizing Nonfiction Texts. We will be reading non-fiction texts, identifying the main idea and important information and then writing short concise summaries of the text. Math We are continuing our unit on mental math multiplication strategies (e.g. repeated addition, doubling, using patterns, using 10 to solve 9 times tables, commutative property (5x18x2=5x2x18 - which gives you 10x18=180), etc.). We are spending a lot of time on this unit as it is the basis of good mathematical thinking and understanding for future units. Homework
